That time of year for some TLC

When we had the insurance survey done last year the surveyor advised we paint the gas locker  - they get some hammer as they have to have holes in them to let any escapes gas out which means water in.

I did this job in June 2015 just before we had Percy back to metal for a full repaint. Much easier this time as it was only the base that needed attention. A scrape back and a dose of Fertan which was left to do its job.

We left that to do its chemical work and set to polishing Percy, second time this year in fact.

Next day we returned with a plan to mask and Hammerite the gas locker but it was still drying  (minimum 48 hours at less than 20c IIRC). So we set to with a bit more polishing and I changed the auto stern greaser  - they last a year and while a little costly a perfect way to always have the right grease under pressure in the stern gland.

As we had for once gained time as we could not paint the gas locker we went for a lovely autumnal walk around Shugborough. Pictures here instead of words....

It was a lovely weekend for boat cleaning but many were proper boating ...

The cafe at Shugborough was closed(ing) so we gave our trade to the Oakcake boat being Staffordshire residents n'all....

I'm going back to finish the gas locker later this week  - a blood bike shift in between and maybe some weather also.
