I guess it's the knowledge come the 4th it's going to go from nothing to full on summer season overnight.... no doubt that'll also add to the stoppages as locks ad structures get used much more from a relative standing start?
We'll be out there, going south on the Shroppie I think, minimising on locks and getting a feel for how busy it actually is. We can always just moor up and watch the boats go by.
It may also be the fact I know I've got to give the boat a decent 'spring clean' before we can enjoy it. It's all small scale stuff in the great scheme of things so I should just STFU as the internet says and get out there and blog about the beauty of the south Shroppie and the Staffs and Worcester canals.
Watch this space ....

Quite right Nev, STFU and get some boating done, we won't see or comment on the cobwebs unless you mention them first... 🤣
Off this weekend to visit the boat, and hopefully get it ready to travel. That's desperately needed before we do anything else.
Then, like you, looking at down the SU, the S&W and probably the southern T&M for a relatively quiet trip with plenty of out of the way moorings.
We are only hire boaters, lost our easter boating holiday due to covid but boatyard gave the option of moving to august. Have decided to instead take option of moving it to easter 2021 as i can see the few weeks after 4th July being bedlam especially if the weather is hot
(Just look at what happened last week)
We are visiting our boat on Monday, we have our BSS on Tuesday, then we'll be out of the marina for a few days, but we won't be leaving the 37 mile lock free area we are fortunate to be in. All provisions will be brought from home. Enjoy whatever you decide to do.
Kevin.... boat despidered and engine cleaned ready to go......
Nick, I’m glad it’s not only us that have left it to the last minute to get the boat cruise ready ! Hail us if you pass
Dave, sensible but I hope it’s a managed and sensible return to canal normal for all our sakes
Caroline & Martin good luck with the BSS, we are going south as there are less locks and more rural and remote moorings ( one of the reasons for moving the boat to Shebdon)
