One last blogger and home

A few days later but we had things to do as soon as we got home.

We were keeping an eye on the weather as the Tuesday we decided to arrive back at Great Haywood a weather front was due early afternoon. So we were on our way after 9am and congratulated ourselves on taking the mooring we did as it seemed busy with boats up to and into Armitage.

Not my favourite section of canal  - I've done it so many times on different boats. The large weeping willow is looking ever more lovely  - you can see we had a bit of wet as soon as we set off, thankfully it soon dried up but you can see the patterns the willow drew in the rain drop on the roof.

We past Joe and Lesley on Steadfast wending their way to a new mooring. Lesley told me she was cooking in the galley ....

I got off the boat and walked the narrows.... one boat held for us as Rachel and Percy emerged.

I think there were more boats at Armitage than Rugeley ! Of course we met a boat at the turn onto the Trent Aqueduct.

Always nice to see Cannock chase after the Rugeley conurbation

Some more nice boat names and sentiments

'We used to count the days - now we make the days count'  - lovely

We saw these of fellows below Colwich lock

Nice use of a dead tree

We've been in a 6 boat queue at Colwich before - today we went straight in

Hardly and boats below or above Great Haywood lock

I made a hash of the turn into the marina as I was watching Rachel walk up the gunnel to help me moor onto the pontoon. We were soon tied up back at base. Some food, then the steady unload and clean.

Total for the trip was 128 miles and 36 locks. We were out for 15 days. No drama nice weather quiet canals some nice moorings.

A few small jobs to do on Percy then what  ??
