Buxworth lower to Buxworth upper basins

After yesterdays late arrival we had always planned a day off in Buxworth, to have a look around but also walk to one of our sons houses in Chinley.

We started the day doing chores as per usual then heard the honk of Alton who we passed in Poyton yesterday. Two people popped their heads out yesterday thinking we were the coal boat. I watched Brian wind in the upper basin then hailed him for a couple of bags of Excel... we didn't really need them for this trip but it gives him trade and we will always be thankful for the coal boats.

We then went up to the upper basin and winded and moored between the upper and middle basins for the night. We then walked to Chinley and did out washing at sons house went to the pub and dried it when we got back in the laundry in Chinley.

Rachel heading for the upper basin and the wind...

All very well done then back to our mooring for tonight -

Last night I though the cat was out as I heard the tell tale bump of paws on the foredeck, bit she was in... it was explained this morning with two half eaten crayfish by the boat - it seems the local mink or maybe an Otter had been around last night !

Back on the boat it's pinging it down now and we can expect rain first thing so we may have a slightly delayed start but we are working on 5 hours cruising a day to get us back to fit in with other commitments.
