That's the stop lock at the start of the canal and lock 12 is the bottom lock of the Bosley flight. We're just short, in a nice mooring just after the railway bridge bridge 60. We suspected there may be a few boats on the moorings directly below the Bosley flight so stopped here for the cat and do some washing and I poured boiling water onto my foot twat !
Last nights moorings
Original plan was to go up the locks today so we've given ourselves two six hour days now to get to our destination Buxworth basin on Saturday. We spent too long in Congleton where we've not stopped before and had a spoon's so we will only have cheese and biscuits tonight - rock and roll !
We set off at 9.45 am behind one of Justins Aqua narrowboats built boat - can't recall the name but it will be a nice boat. We've only seen three boats today and one passed while we were moored in Congleton. As I said in my long ago post from our last boat Waterlily this is a beautiful canal.
We were far too long in the town leaving again at 2.45pm and cruised on to our present mooring about 10 minutes cruise from the flight. It really was too nice a mooring to pass by and a place to spend time maybe if we come this way again.
We walked into Congleton via Lamberts lane - Rachels Dad's surname was Lambert and they hailed from Cheshire ? We walked back up to the canal via canal road - this is our view from the boat looking back from where we walked.
Due away at 9 tomorrow to get our 6 hours in .... lets see if we get away at the agreed time !
PS weather much nicer but still a cold easterly wind
