So we have cruised November, December, January and February and we have enjoyed it in the main. We recently took a overnight trip to Huddlesford Junction and had a nice meal in the Plough. This is a first for us as we normally are cruising outbound or homeward, the Plough is about 2 hours from our mooring.
One downside, although not encountered on the trip to the Plough is ice. Percy is stripped at the stem post from the cruise in ice bringing him back from Braunston in November/early December. A plan is being hatched to address this combining a cruise in May for my mum to Norbury for them to black Percy. We will get a price for the sign writing to remove the old owners name and add ours.... only question is do we put in Fradley Junction as we did with Waterlily or Derby ....any thoughts?

how about Derby Canal - Home with a historical twist
I'd go for Derby (or Derby Canal - I like that too)....you might choose to move from Fradley Junction one day.
I think anywhere on a British waterway - derelict or restored - is fair game. What doesn't work for me is the owner's home town, Romford, say, with no waterways connection whatever. I've seen it done.
By the way, Nev, Percyland seems to be eight hours behind the rest of us.
When I had Starcross repainted I didn't want to put "Hereford" as it isn't on the (open) system and we were hoping to move anyway. I didn't want to put "Lancaster" on either as that might have tempting fate as things weren't too definite. So the obvious was to put Norbury Junction, which was fine until last year - when I moved Starcross to Uplands!
I shall have to have another think when the next paint job is due, but that hopefully won't be for a few years yet.
Gents,
Thanks for the quick and commonsense replies.... Derby canal...that could grow on me.
Clock reset to London time , thanks Halfie
Somewhere that means something to you, rather than where you happen to moor at the time. Or perhaps even better, somewhere that's significant to the boat - particularly with a historically interesting boat like Percy.
Sarah,
Thanks for the comment. It has raised an interesting thought about such names. Were they the place of registration or the place the boat worked from or something else? I quite like Braunston where Tony works but the boat was born on the Ashby...I'll dig out where it was built and launched as that might be more appropriate certainly for its provenance? still enjoying life on the cut and working?
